Join a small group of connoisseurs for an exclusive 9-day tour to two of the major wine districts of New Zealand – Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa, highlighted by a day at two major conferences - the Hawke's Bay Cabernet Merlot Symposium and culminating in the international Pinot Now 2010 conference, in the capital city of Wellington.
This opportunity comes every 3 years only and attracts international wine industry professionals and commentators. The tour is designed and hosted by New Zealand-born food and wine writer and critic, Jill Rivers, who visits the country every 2-3 months.
The conferences are the ultimate forums and structured tastings of the top quality wines from the highly regarded wine districts of New Zealand, coupled with the highest quality cuisine offered by one of the major food and wine producing countries in the world.
Focus is on the New Zealand Burgundy and Bordeaux- style wines – the Internationally- acclaimed New World Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon wines, which respond to the New Zealand terroir.
The wine and food programme features visits to selected leading wineries and restaurants in both districts, a gourmet food tour of Wellington, formal tastings of 100 Great New Zealand Pinot Noir and The Great Pinot Noirs of the World, plus the Pinot Noir 2010 Gala Dinner.
The Hawke's Bay stay includes a day of tasting and talking at the Hawke's Bay Cabernet Merlot Symposium followed by a structured tasting and Grand Dinner at Sileni Estates winery.
Accommodation is in small luxury hotels, Mangapapa Petit Hotel, Havelock North, Peppers Martinborough Hotel and the Bolton Hotel, Wellington.
Note: The tour can be extended – tailored to fit your individual requirements.
